What Is the Trade Fairness Meter?

The Trade Fairness Meter is an instant fantasy football trade evaluator that compares multi-player trades side by side. Simply add players to Side A and Side B, enter their projected points, and the tool calculates:

  • Fairness Percentage: How balanced the trade is (closer to 0% = perfectly fair)
  • Trade Winner: Which side gets more total projected points
  • Recommendation: Actionable advice — Accept, Decline, or Counter

📊 Fairness Scale

0% – 5%

Fair Trade

5% – 15%

Slightly Unfair

> 15%

Very Unfair

Use this tool before accepting any trade to ensure you're getting fair value. It's especially useful for complex multi-player trades where it's hard to compare value at a glance.

How the Trade Fairness Is Calculated

The Trade Fairness Meter uses a combination of raw point totals and position-based Value Over Replacement Player (VORP) weighting to evaluate trade balance.

📐 Formula

Weighted Value = PPG × Position Weight

Position weights: QB = 1.0, RB = 1.2, WR = 1.1, TE = 1.15

Fairness % = (|Side A Total - Side B Total| ÷ Max(Side A Total, Side B Total)) × 100

📊 Worked Example

Side A: Derrick Henry (RB, 18.5 PPG) × 1.2 = 22.2
DeAndre Hopkins (WR, 12.3 PPG) × 1.1 = 13.5
Total: 35.7 weighted points

Side B: Bijan Robinson (RB, 16.2 PPG) × 1.2 = 19.4
Ja'Marr Chase (WR, 14.1 PPG) × 1.1 = 15.5
Total: 34.9 weighted points

Difference: 0.8 weighted points
Fairness: (0.8 ÷ 35.7) × 100 = 2.2% — FAIR TRADE

🎯 Position Weights (VORP)

  • RB: 1.2 — Running backs are scarce; their PPG carries more value
  • TE: 1.15 — Elite tight ends are rare; positional value matters
  • WR: 1.1 — Wide receivers have depth, but elite ones are valuable
  • QB: 1.0 — Quarterbacks are replaceable; baseline weight
