Analytical Methodology & Calculation Engine

Data sources and formulas last reviewed: August 2026

Sources: baseline stat lines (yards, receptions, touchdowns, snap counts) are compiled from publicly published box scores and official league play-by-play data, cross-checked against Pro Football Reference (NFL) and Basketball Reference (NBA).

NFL Sports Network is an independent, fan-run project. We do not claim any affiliation with the NFL, NFLPA, NBA, NBPA, any franchise, or any athlete featured on this site or its linked domains. Player names are used descriptively, to identify which public figure a given statistical tool covers — the same way a sports blog or forum discussion would.

How the calculators work: every tool takes publicly reported box-score stats (yards, receptions, touchdowns, snaps) as inputs and applies standard, published fantasy-scoring formulas — 0.1 points per rushing/receiving yard, 1.0 point per reception in full PPR, 6.0 points per touchdown, and so on. There's no proprietary data feed or private information involved; you can verify every formula against any public fantasy scoring guide.

Skill-position tools (running backs, receivers, tight ends) add a touch-distribution layer on top of the base formula, letting you weight how heavily a player's role skews toward high-value touches like red-zone carries or slot targets.

Line play and defensive tools use snap counts and per-game pace instead of fantasy points, since offensive linemen and most defenders aren't scored in standard fantasy formats — these are built for IDP (individual defensive player) leagues and general performance tracking.

Every number on every calculator is a mathematical projection based on user-adjustable inputs, not a guarantee, forecast, or official statement from any team or player.

NFL Fantasy & Advanced Metrics Glossary

PPR (Points Per Reception)

A fantasy scoring format that awards points for every catch, rewarding pass-catching volume over big plays alone. Full PPR gives 1.0 point per reception; Half-PPR gives 0.5.

YAC (Yards After Catch)

Yardage a receiver gains after the catch but before being tackled or stepping out of bounds — a good proxy for open-field playmaking ability.

EPA (Expected Points Added)

A play-by-play efficiency metric that measures how much a single play shifted a team's scoring probability given down, distance, and field position.

Target Share & Snap Share

Target share is the percent of a team's pass attempts thrown to one player; snap share is the percent of total offensive plays that player was on the field for.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are these calculators affiliated with the NFL, NBA, or any player?

No. This is an independent fan project built for statistical commentary and entertainment. No team, league, players' association, or individual athlete has sponsored, reviewed, or endorsed any tool on this network.

How often is the underlying data updated?

Baseline season and career totals are refreshed after each NFL and NBA regular season, with mid-season spot updates when a player's role or usage changes materially. Calculators themselves run instantly in your browser once you enter numbers.

What scoring formats are supported?

Standard, Half-PPR (0.5), Full PPR (1.0), and TE Premium (1.5), plus manual overrides so you can match any custom league rule set.

Why does each player have a separate domain?

Each domain hosts a deep-dive calculator tuned to that player's specific role (e.g., a goal-line back vs. a slot receiver need different inputs). This hub is the central directory and the only place with the full-season, format-agnostic calculator above.
